ADA IV - DA RFO IV

Learning and motivating is a continuing process and having this training held in Boracay is somewhat hitting 2 birds with 1 stone.

Andragogy and pedagogy terminologies, my first time to hear and encounter. This is an opportunity to evaluate ourselves what level of learning are we now.

Grateful because the Resource Speaker is super knowledgeable in the subject matter. The words just spontaneously came out that enlightened the learners. The quality sessions are more valuable than any other thing in Boracay.

We, in group I are so thankful to this opportunity, for imparting to us another knowledge which we will also be imparting to others.

Thank you POAP for organizing such activity like this with excellent topics and resource speakers.

This 4 days training on human resources management with the theme: "Motivating Adults to Learn" with mam Virginia Bactad as lecturer is very timely and fruitful for all of us...staying at the government offices without motivation will makes us static. We just simply do our work as what we are doing for how many years already, but having attended this training, we are now ready to go back to our respective offices as motivated adults with the hope of improving our office performance to deliver better service to the people of the government.... yes indeed this training is one of the best trainings we ever had , its not stressful as when, we are push to learn modules which are unnecessary; the set module was discussed as simple as it is and its very understandable to all of us.

Thank you mam Bactad for sharing your time and knowledge to all us, yes it is indeed a very successful training.

We really thank you because as time goes by you are still healthy, beautiful and able to share your knowledge and able to motivate us to soar high as high as we can.

Thank you POAP once again and we hope to see you again next year.

Our attention was called by our supervisors, Directors and HR Personnel if we are interested to attend seminar on Motivating Adults to Learn. Motivating Adults to Learn? Where? Boracay? Oh well, I'll go for the Boracay thing. Maybe ill be able to learn a thing or two when I finished the 4 days seminar offered by POAP. So I packed my bags and flew to Boracay unknowingly that this seminar will change our attitude to a great level for the better if not the best of us to surface. As the saying goes, waking up the Sleeping Dragon in us.

Honestly, it stunned us right after three days of seminar on the output and learning we had which we never thought we could acquire.

The prologue of learning technology and the changing workplace recently increased the importance of adult learning. However, there comes the problem of motivating adult learners. There are a few things that stand in the way to motivating adults to start learning. You cannot teach old dogs new tricks right? Wrong!!!!

Cooperation is one factor for motivation. This usually helps in doing assigned task to the group. But to be able to get their cooperation, one has to catch his/her interest. This seminar teaches us different methodologies to utilize for us to be a effective motivator and educator for our co-workers (subordinates and equals alike) be able to learn though they think they are too old for that.

But how can we motivate our equals if we ourselves are close-minded. Yeah right, it is part of our duties and responsibilities being facilitator, educator, resource speaker or supervisors in our agencies. But would it be nicer and easier on our part if we ourselves are truly motivated so that we could motivate others to learn? Learning is an endless process in our life. It is not proper if we will stick to our old knowledge and stop growing. We may not know it but everyday of our lives, at work and at home, we learn and we need to learn a thing or two for us to have a quality and easier life. Motivating Adults to Learn is to motivate ourselves first to be mature, independent and never get tired of learning. No matter what the age issues can be, we have to strive for perfection and excellence so that we can be a role model especially to the young people and to our equals in workplace. How can we push our children and grandchildren to strive for the best if we ourselves are contented with Satisfactory or Good? How can our peers and equals at work obey our directions and objectives for an excellent Agency if we ourselves reflect that we are fine and contented with Good or Satisfactory Outputs?

Equipped properly and having learned a lot from the 4 days seminar in Boracay, we are now more than ready to return to our respective agencies and put into works our additional learning. It would be personally achieving and professionally content if we were able to motivate our "equals' to learn. Many methodologies, formats and climate settings in which we could utilize one at a time or combined for a more effective and easier motivation for learning.

ON OUR CO-PARTICIPANTS:

Fortunately, my peers in group built the spirit of fun and cooperation making this education an enjoyable way to be trained. POAP not just motivated us but reminded us (coz, we for awhile forgot it) that the skills and abilities to be a matured and responsible adult is within us. We just need to be motivated in different positive ways to change drastically "static" to "innovative" educator to our equals. This seminar gave us smiles on our lips and high hopes in our heart to find the right "door" for elusive opportunities for us. We may be competitive most of the times but if you dig deeper, there are still apprehensions and doubts at the back of our mind if we could do it. But we were able to pull the "show" because we were able to motivate ourselves to learn and strive for excellence and never stop nor be a static person we are before.

ON RESOURCE SPEAKER (MS. VIRGINIA NAÑAGAS-BACTAD):

Undoubtedly, she is an Authority on the subject matter, no question about that. Why do we say this? She personally asked us questions that made us process our work attitude on our strengths and limitations. there are times that we could not agree on her opinions especially on the bureaucracy in the government but come to think of it, she is absolutely right. Being in a "static" position for five years or more should wake us up. Are we still effective and useful in our agency? Or we are just one of those burdens that made the general public think that "Ganyan talaga pag gobyerno, hay naku!" Risky it may sound, but we have to move and think of moving out of our present agency that made us paperweights and transfer or look for other agency that will make us grow professionally and personally. But of course as she reiterated, we have to equip ourselves with educational attainment, eligibilities and not to mention expertise to arm ourselves for the "on the rise" we will be encountering. Ms. Bactad fuelled our sleeping passion to be the best.

ON THE FACILITATORS/ORGNIZING PERSONNEL:

Kudos to all of you!!! Handling too many government employees coming from different cultures and stature is not easy task but they all were able to handle it with a smile and project an image that it was an easy task. We are facilitators and lecturers ourselves and experience wise, it is not an easy task. For your smiles on your lips, untiring positive response on our irritating and sometimes illogical requests and queries, we would like to extend our heartfelt thank you for the effort you all exerted for the success of this seminar. the success of this seminar will also be our success.

I enjoyed attending this kind of training, the "Motivating Adults to Learn", in which I've learned the 14 adult methodologies and the dimensions of motivation. I'm looking forward to attend other trainings/seminars by POAP, and I highly recommend this training not only to Personnel Officers but to other employees as well.

I learned that we should continue to study and be self-motivated to be contented and happy in life.

Friendly and motivated participants. After this Motivating Adults to Learn I'll be excel to change to be high level "thanks" for the sharing of knowledge to mam bactad and to all participants.

Before I'm stupid static but now i'm motivated

Lastly, thank you to all our co-participants. We enjoyed your singing, dancing, acting and were learned so much from you.
