Reflection - DENNIS SORIANO

December 3, 2014

The first time I saw the seminar/training for job evaluation and analysis in the list of POAP offered trainings, I really volunteered myself to attend without any hesitation because I know that I should be there. I know that I’ll learn many things here that will be applicable in our organization.

In our office, one of my tasks is to prepare contracts of Job orders (Like me) with their Terms of Reference (TOR), so all of them pass in my hands. I also have electronic copies of the said documents. So now, I feel somewhat responsible for checking its contents and if it really captures all the necessary tasks expected to be performed by an employee in a certain position. So I think this is the right venue to learn how to do it.

Browsing the modules in the seminar/training, I expected to further understand what job analysis is, why and how should it be done and its application. Though the course, expectations were met little by little and the most important thing is the application of the end product; being able to create a job description.

The course was really good because not only theories were introduced to the participants but also tools and strategies were shown. The learning is there because after presenting the key concepts, we were able to demonstrate them through our activities; we were able to relate certain variables regarding the compensation and benefits, able to identify the needed information in conceptualizing nature of jobs or job analysis, then were able to produce a job description for a certain position.

Being the youngest participant (I assumed), it’s really challenging for me to be with well-experienced government personnel because I really need to catch up with them. Like the first time I attend POAP training in Bacolod, most of the time I was the representative of the group which I take as a challenge and show my willingness to show what I have learned.

Now, going back to our Agency I have my experience and knowledge which I can apply for the betterment of our organization. I believe that our agency’s effort sending me here to the seminar will result to our great contribution in the work place.

Job Evaluation and Analysis

December 3, 2014

As an Agency Planning Officer of PCC, it is inherent to look into the relevant and practical application of the concepts learned from this seminar at the operational (at least) and program level.

This session led me to work for an output-outcome based job performance evaluation system through participating job analysis. It was made clear from the learnings gathered that changes starts in describing “terms of references” agreed between the staff and management.

Thank you for the opportunity of gaining additional knowledge and my best wishes to POAP!

First, we would like to thank the POAP, Inc. for offering Human Resource Seminars. These not only equip us knowledge that we could use in our organization, but also in dealing with other employees from other agencies. These also give us opportunity for R&R and the chance to go to different places.

Second, we appreciate the speakers so much for their interesting topics. We find them very knowledgeable of their topics and they possess the tolerance needed by the participants in order to involve themselves in the activities.

God bless all POAP officers and members.

The lecture given by Ms. Bactad is really interesting and important in our respective organization/agency because we really have to meet our vision and mission as a public servant. In order to meet that we must not be divided by group but we must know how to work as a team. Though, in our discussion there are participants who still stand for working as a group and reiterate her position as a supervisor. Ms. Bactad is very firm and polite in her lecture that we must remove our “hat of authority” if we want our members to work as a TEAM with that…. We salute you mam.
